Kristin Bauerartist, etc.![]() My painting is a search for understanding. For understanding of myself and the world that I live in. The process of painting is a search for the image within the canvas.
I begin my process by layering washes of color, markmaking, organic shapes and text. I complicate the surface and at some point begin introducing painted patterns, people or objects to suggest space. It is at this point I discover a narrative within the emerging composition. Subtractively and additivley I bring the imagery to fruition, giving volume to all the many voices within the painting.
