The Evelyn Smith Music Theatre is the home of the many opera and musical productions presented by the Lyric Opera Theatre of the School of Music at Arizona State University. With the Lyric Opera Theatre serving as its heart, the School of Music in the Herberger College of Fine Arts is praised as one of the best and most recognized music theatre/opera programs in the country.

Since 1963, the Lyric Opera Theatre has presented vibrant, professionally staged productions that highlight the talent emerging from the Musical Theatre/Opera program. Housed in the Evelyn Smith Music Theatre, a five-story theatre modeled after the Wagnerian Theatre in Bayreuth Germany and seating 500 people, LOT productions feature a cross section of repertoire and are directed and designed by music faculty, staff and guest artists.
