scott allisonfalling down in slow motion![]() Mine is an attempt to communicate with the viewer by visually representing my mental landscape by revealing and concealing ideas and imagery much like a Japanese garden. I believe in using the cycle of creation and destruction to create images that convey my interpretation of the physical and psychological elements of the world around me. The work becomes a document of the evolutionary process of which it was created organizing elements of immagery with absract textures and colors. The act of painting is the art which happens on a temporal line as each painting or drawing becomes itself.

Current work is on exhibit at Pita Jungle in Gilbert; 1431 E. Williams Field Rd. Suite 101, Gilbert, AZ 85295 as well as Dr Tattoff; 8500 Wilshire Blvd. Beverly Hills CA 90211. Watch for my paintings on DR 90210 on E Network in June 2008! I was born in a small town in Michigan but by the age of four found myself swallowed by the suburbs; first in California, then Arizona, which is still my home to this day. The study and observation of life and nature are my ongoing pursuit as I strive to better myself for the sake of my friends and family. Drawing came first to me as I used it to remedy my boredom during the services at Cupertino church of the Nazarene. At the age of five, I thought I was a genius because I smudged the graphite on a drawing of a duck in order to make shading. Nobody had told me this was an age-old technique so I felt pretty clever. Even though I hadn't invented anything new, my drive to create continued throughout my childhood and teenage years and began making very poor paintings sometime there after. It wasn't until college that I really began to submerge myself if artistic persuits and began to find my own vioce in visual media. I received a classical training at Mesa Community College under the direction of Jim Garrison and Darlene Swaim. I was entranced with what I was learning and stayed under the direction of MCC for six years before finally deciding to get a degree at Arizona State University. Once at ASU, I was pushed by Anthony Pessler and Henry Schobel to make more honest paintings that were true to the paint itself while reflecting something of myself in my work. When I work now, my focus is to merge formal elements with those more modern ideas relating to psychology and philosophy. Since beginning to exhibit in 1999, I have shown all over the Phoenix area including: Art One, Modified, Holgas, Coronado Cafe, MCC, and ASU. More recently, I have been displayed in the Los Angeles area at the Cafe Solar de Cahuengain Hollywood, The Allagio Hotel in Hollywood, Zuzu Nova on Melrose, and the corporate headquarters of Dr Tattoff in Beverly Hills. |
