"Hank Williams was a Mexican"

This painting was at first painted for the Hank William's Musum in Montgomery, Alabama. They asked me to paint them an image of Hank Williams for their 2006 calendar. I showed it once at a first Friday exhibition when it was picked up to be shown as part of the Remix Exhibition to be shown in Phoenix and New York City.
The image was a comment on the ways in which an idol gets into you as a person. How when you identify with that person, you become that idol. If you are that idol, then what happens to their identity. They become you, right?
Also, I wanted to mess with the racists who are watching, dumbfounded and seething, as Mexicans move into the South to work for their own American Dream.
