Desert Bighorn Sheep

In 2005, I was commissioned by the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society to create realistic renditions of the skull and horns from one of the largest Desert Bighorn sheep in the world. This ram had lived his entire life within the Oregon Pipe Cactus Ntl. Monument in Arizona where he was photographed on several occasions while alive. These incredible horns are covered by a labyrinth of splintered fractures, scars and missing horn, testifying to the ear deafening impacts of battles fought deep within his desert range.
Shortly after his death, his horns and skull were recovered from the towering mountains and steep canyons he had defended throughout his life and where his legacy surely continues to this day thanks in part to the efforts of The Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society and others like them.
