"Sinagua Dreamtime"

This is a detail of a petroglyph and of the areas I have started to finish around it. I really want to capture the incredible mixture of colors that emerge from within this rock art site during the monsoon season while wet. It is then that the colors become the most vivid and seem to melt into one another. The lichens are also at their most colorful during these storms. Looking dried up and colorless for most of the year they almost double in size as they soak up the summer rains, instantly covering the rocks they cling to in an explosion of color. From shades of crimson and orange to deep greens and ghostly white turquoise, the colors seem to appear out of nowhere.
