"Barramundi from Kakadu"36" x 37" x 2" - 4 lbs "This brightly colored Aboriginal rock art painting of a Barramundi (a large species of Australian fish) may be seen today upon the protected walls of a rock shelter in the rugged outback of western Arnhem Land, Australia. It is a beautiful example of the "X-ray style" developed by the Aboriginal peoples inhabiting the Arnhem Land plateau and surrounding areas over 6000 years ago. This style of rock art includes paintings, which are more complex than those found elsewhere in Australia, usually depicting the internal organs and skeletal structure of its subjects with suggestive designs. Arnhem Land lies partly within the boundaries of Kakadu Ntl. Park and is one of the richest rock art areas in the world with an estimated 5000 to 6000 sites."
