Sienna Morris![]() I am an artist and designer, fairly new to the Phoenix area. I've recently returned from three strange and exciting years in Southern China. When I moved to Phoenix in the summer of 2008, I started my series, "Perpetual Motions" using a new technique I call Numberism.
I returned to an America that was rife with stress, worry, low quality of life and anxiety. Myself and those around me were consumed with fears relating to money, time and mounting responsibility. Obsessed with time and the worry that I had misused it as well as the worry that I might yet again waist it in the future, I began a series based on time and the notion of living in the moment. Each piece attempts to capture a moment in it's entirety, using the numbers of the clock to express the presence of time and it's fluidity. Each piece features a moment in our lives we would naturally cling to and experience fully as it happens so as to try to remind us to address every moment this way. My hope is to remind myself and anyone is drawn to these works to find a way to cherish their memories but live in the now. Each piece is drawn entirely with the numbers of the clock. Roosevelt St. Suite 133 Phoenix, AZ 85004 Sienna's earliest memory is sitting in front of a piece of paper that was resting against the back of her father's easel, saying “I'm Daddy” while painting long green strokes. Sienna's family moved a lot as she grew up, so the settings and faces of her world were ever-changing, but her love of art pervaded her life no matter where she was. In adult life, she continued to travel, spending three years in Southern China with her husband, learning Mandarin to better understand the unique and wonderful world around her. They lived in ZhongShan, where she worked with her husband's multimedia company, Frogfaith, that specializes in producing independent film, advertising and design with realistic budgets, never settling for the mediocre. They worked with Chinese entertainers and musicians and Sienna was the artistic designer who brought their work to life. In 2008, Sienna returned to the states, and while working in Hollywood designing story boards for films, theatrical posters and book covers, she continued to paint and draw her own projects. Then, through her anxiety about time and the unanswerable question of whether we have enough of it left, she began to draw a series composed of only the numbers on a clock, 1 through 12. The series is called “Perpetual Motion” and the unique artistic concept that Sienna pioneered she has christened “Numberism”. Sienna lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona, and can be seen at the monthly art walks in the Phoenix area, as well as the Blink Art Gallery and The Su Vino Winery in March of 2009, and several other galleries. ** If you are interested in seeing Sienna's full resume in regards to Freelance Design, or would like to talk to her about a project or commission, email her at Sienna.Morris@Gmail.com |
