Artist's Statement:

“Artists are the people among us who realize that creation didn't stop on the sixth day.”
- Joel-Peter Witkin

As a passionate observer, I am often struck by the idea that beauty is everywhere. In urban environments, I find interest in many things, from the brick patterns that define the traditional aesthetic to the shadows cast by the ultramodern monoliths prevalent in today’s cities.

My photography and artworks attempts to freeze the continually changing visuals that I see with both my eyes and soul, without hesitation or deceit.
I continue to find new inspiration each time I look through my viewfinder or stand before my easel, and I hope that my work makes you part of my experience.

Sincerely,

Wayne Michael Reich

Artistic Biography

Wayne Michael Reich hails from Long Island, New York, and draws many of his artistic influences from his native home. Inspired by the artistic influence of the 1980's New Wave movement, his unique one-off Pop Art paintings have earned him the respect and an unusually fierce loyalty among his dedicated base of collectors and patrons.

His photographic works based on traditional film processes, stem from his personal belief that the overuse of Photoshop and other electronic rendering techniques is a sign of being a digital artist- not a photographer.

"Get it on the negative, not off a disc." is his credo.

With over 100 shows under his belt, and an average of 6 to 10 shows a year, he has strongly established himself (In the words of The Phoenix New Times) as a "provocative photographer whose work encompasses the spectra from the wholesome to the kinky".

His ongoing series of architectural studies of Downtown Phoenix, garnered some of the highest praise of his career after an August 2006 show at PHX City Hall, and is being formed into a book project.

Currently Wayne is working on creating paintings and 3-D sculpture, for an all new showing of work sometime in the fall of 2008.
